Exploring Found Images & Objects Project #2: Imaginary World Collage

Materials

  • Sheet of Photographic Scrapbooking Paper OR Calendar Picture of your choice, from a calendar with landscapes or outdoor scenes
  • Magazines
  • Glue Stick
Tools

  • Scissors
Instructions

  1. Choose a sheet of photographic scrapbooking paper or a calendar picture to be the background of your image.

  2. Find things in magazines to add to your image, possibly including people, animals, and/ or inanimate objects. Go ahead and tear out the whole page from the magazine when you find something you like.

  3. For each thing you find in the magazine, cut it out of its background completely, because you are going to add it to your own background. If it has fine details that are difficult to cut (such as strands of hair, fine stems, etc.), you can cut a little bit around them; just do the best you can.

  4. Make an arrangement of your cut out items on your background. Arrange them just how you’d like them to be before beginning the gluing process. (Note: If you don’t have room for them all, you can overlap, let objects extend off the edge of the page, or just decide to leave out some objects.)

  5. When you have an image you like, glue everything down with a glue stick.

  6. Now you have an imaginary world!
